Maybe he was an obnoxious prick on the old forum, but people change sometimes. It wouldn't have been fair to say, "You've been a moron in the past, therefore you will be a moron until the day that you die and I can never trust you to behave normally." At least, it would have been without sufficient evidence that he'd not changed. That's why I banned him when the personal attacks started - after he was aggravating you, I sent him a warning to mend his ways or get lost - even though I thought it slightly unfair that you weren't even prepared to give him a chance. When he didn't stop, I sent him another warning. When he branched out to Wanbli, I sent a third warning, to which his response was to flood my inbox and the forum with abuse, so I banned him, since I had clear evidence that he was as much of a dickhead as he always was. I could have banned him earlier had enough people said, "Please get rid of Scherado." I won't respond to vigilanteism - if you believe the forum would sooner be without someone, you are required to demonstrate that your beliefs are correct. That is, start a petition here in The Fray: "All those in favour of banning Scherado, please say aye."
I can't really pay attention to everything said here. Okay, maybe you gave him a very brief chance, but it didn't exactly last very long. At any rate, I'm trying to make sure the same doesn't happen again. It'd be helpful if you could either join in constructively or keep mum.
How long is it supposed to take to recognize a pattern that you've seen many times before? Are you afraid to make a decision? You were sure quick to judge me on insubstantial evidence, and yet you allowed him to create chaos for days after I shut up about him. Similar crap went on in the old forum. It wasn't him that drove me away from there. I was pissed off at the people who were making excuses for his bad behavior. I won't name anyone, but I'm talking directly to one of them right now. And Lina made you the sole active moderator. And what's this crap about "vigilanteism?" Who was trying to be a vigilante? There's not a person here who can kick anyone off except the moderators. If you are talking about me complaining about his crap, how is that vigilantism? Once he made it clear to me that he was falling back into his bad behavior, I said something about it...several times. Was it vigilantism when dwain said something? Would it have been vigilantism if someone else had bothered to complain, and if so, how many complaints does it take before it's no longer vigilantism? I could ask a lot of other questions, but I doubt that you will give me any fair and reasonable answers...not if you stick to the established pattern. If I could have simply added you to my foe list, I wouldn't see the stupid crap you say, and then you wouldn't have to be reading any of my complaints about you. By the way...will I be getting a warning for making a personal attack?
I'm very sorry for having a different perspective to you. In the future, I'll bow to your opinion as soon as it's expressed, recognising your superiority. Again, I am really sorry.
And no, you won't be getting a warning because you've not made a personal attack, you've just complained about my moderation.
I'm not going to reply to you on this matter anymore. If you have a grievance, make a thread for it or PM me, don't clog up the rest of the forum with it.
Anticipating that you might complain that your posts are relevant to the subject of the thread and mine aren't really, I'm going to split this thread so that the actual constructive posts are on their own and the moaning remains in here, though I'm not wholly sure that the subject of this thread is my moderation, but rather a notification of its results.
I did a ctrl+f for that and I could only find you saying it, so I don't think so. Rave all you want, I'm just saying that I'm not going to waste my time trying to change your mind when you're being so stubborn. I've defended my actions, and it doesn't really mean a lot to me whether you alone don't accept that defense or not.
Interesting. You spent a lot of time trying to change scherado's mind, despite a lot of evidence that suggested his mind was unchangeable. Oh, that's right, you've already defended your actions. Enjoying that power? By the way, that was rhetorical.
I think he may be the best. But then, dwain might be. His world-view definitely seems to more closely aligned to mine than is that of Alex. That doesn't mean that I favor a change...yet. Also, Alex has on more than one occasion unfavorably compared my behavior to that of scherado. I disagree. scherado is rude, obnoxious, opinionated, and a long list of other unpleasant words. I thoroughly loved to harass him for all of that. How does that make me the same? My beef with Alex isn't so much about his performance as a moderator as it is about the stupid shit he sometimes says...with authority. It's not business...it's personal. I guess that I will probably continue to complain whenever he says stupid shit, especially while in his role as a moderator. I regret that he talked me into stopping my harassment of scherado, but I don't think I'll let that happen again. Stupid shit said in public needs to be pointed out so people don't step in it. I expect to eventually be banned for it, but then shit happens.
I don't fully understand what is happening here. I have various thoughts on your annoyance with Jordan here, but I specifically want to point out one thing.
In the past, you've been, in my opinion, insulting to Jordan, and he's reacted very, very well. When you suddenly decided that he was a foe and wanted to ignore all of his posts, he merely apologized (though I still can't figure out what he did wrong). Jordan's done a fantastic job at dealing with all of this, and honestly, I think he's dealing with you pretty well.
I think you're over-exaggerating your complaints about him -- you have this weird perception that he's crazed with power. For example, you end your last post with "I expect to eventually be banned for it..."
Do you not see that above, Jordan stated, "And no, you won't be getting a warning because you've not made a personal attack, you've just complained about my moderation."? He has not even come close to threatening you with any sort of punishment, in fact has gone so far as to assure you that it won't be happening because he accepts criticism. However, you still seem to think he's some power-hungry moderator who'll ban you because you point out his "stupid shit". Jordan's never been afraid to argue, to have to back up his claims -- he's not going to shut down someone questioning him like you seem to think. You interpret him saying that he's not going to reply anymore because you're stubborn, and you should PM him if you have a grievance as to "shut the fuck up." You're taking Jordan's suggestions as him laying down the law, but he's not. He's suggesting that instead of clogging up this thread with complaints about him, you two PM. Why is it that when Jordan (officially) warns Scherado about behaviors he thinks are bad for the forum, you insist he's not doing enough, but when he merely suggests and is in no way enforcing, that you two take it to a PM or you try to be more constructive, you think he's saying stupid shit and "enjoying that power"?
Jordan didn't spend that much time trying to change Scherado's mind. He just gave him a chance, then gave him three warnings before a ban. Here, Jordan's letting you get away with what I think are insults with no warnings whatsoever. What is he doing wrong here? You act as if you're being victimized, as if Jordan's marching around, making crazy rules, luxuriating in his power. The biggest thing Jordan's done on here is ban Scherado, which is what YOU wanted, but you can't stand it because he took too long? Because he wanted to give him a bit more time to make sure he was making the right decision?
Who we need here is superconductivity from the old forum. He could apply a little psychoanalysis to my complaints and then explain exactly where I am coming from.
Your Honor, I move that the last entry in this thread by ann be stricken from the record on the grounds that she was unable in the old forum to understand what scherado was doing that was so bad. In that case, how could she possibly recognize my alleged insult to you?
I think one of the first rules we should have is that people are allowed to have differing opinions and perspectives. And that vendettas are forbidden.
That sounds reasonable. How will it be determined that a vendetta exists, and that someone is not simply exercising the right to express an opinion that differs from that of whoever is acting as judge? Will you be the judge, and will those who perceive an insult to one person, but not to another, be the jury? Sounds fair enough for almost everyone here. I can hardly wait.
When you decided to ban scherado, was it based upon complaints by people he insulted, or was it just your perception that insults had taken place? Also, I'm not really clear on the use of the foe list. If someone feels the need to avoid the posts of someone obnoxious (like me ), why would there be a need to ban someone who is insulting? Couldn't those who were insulted simply have added scherado to their foe list? If others objected to his perceived insults to someone else, couldn't they also have added scherado to their foe list? The foe list would have allowed scherado to stay here, pleasing the likes of those in the old forum who liked his witty posts. Even my 'yanking of his chain' would have been acceptable if I was added to the foe lists of those who objected. If I was added to someone's foe list, wouldn't they miss out on the good or useful information I might post? Who cares?
I have more questions, but I'll save them for later.
