Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is likely to join rival Manchester United this month , his manager Arsene Wenger said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
The Chilean international is out of contract at the end of the season and was also a target for Manchester City, but United appears to have stolen a march on its local rival.
“I worked on transfers for 30 years so it is likely to happen, but at any moment it can break down ... If it doesn’t happen, he will play on Saturday,” Wenger told a news conference , adding that United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan could move in the other direction.
“I like the player. We played many times against him when he was at (Borussia) Dortmund. He appreciated the quality of our games ... The wages would not be a problem,” Wenger added.
“This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other,” Wenger said, adding that he would still be in the market for more recruits.
Arsenal sold Theo Walcott to Premier League rival Everton on Wednesday.
Armenia international Mkhitaryan has faded this season and has fallen down the pecking order under manager Jose Mourinho, who omitted the 28-year-old from United’s squad for its 3-0 win over Stoke City on Monday.
British media reports say that United is prepared to pay Sanchez more than 350 ,000 pounds (US$485,000) per week. “I wouldn’t like to come out on the numbers because that’s Man United’s problem,” Wenger said. “I respect Man United because they generate the money they pay to the players with their own resources, so you have to respect that.
“He’s 29 years old so the next contract will be, of course , very important for him.”
Meanwhile, all eyes will be on whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returns to Dortmund’s starting line-up at Hertha Berlin today, with the star striker reportedly chasing a move to Arsenal.
Dortmund coach Peter Stoeger has told magazine Sport Bild he “assumes” Aubameyang, who has scored 21 goals in 23 matches this season, will stay , but “if he leaves, it will be hard to replace him with that goal quota”.
German media reports claim the Gabon hot-shot is chasing a transfer to Arsenal after being disciplined on Sunday, with Dortmund wanting 70 million euros (US$85.6m) for last season’s Bundesliga top scorer.
China on Tuesday again voiced opposition to a gathering in Vancouver of foreign ministers from 20 countries on security and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
Canada and the United States will co-host the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, will discuss measures to exert maximum diplomatic as well as economic pressures on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to force it to end its nuclear and missile programs.
"Since this meeting does not have legitimacy or representativeness , China has opposed the meeting from the very beginning," Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang told a routine press briefing. "While countries are committed to finding a proper solution for the peaceful settlement of the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue, some parties hold such a meeting in the name of the so-called United Nations command during the Cold War era. We do not know what the purpose of convening such a meeting is."
He said that without participation of some of the most important direct parties to the nuclear issue, the Vancouver meeting had no legitimacy and was not representative.
The meeting, in which China's foreign minister will not participate , comes as the DPRK and the ROK have resumed talks after Pyongyang decided to join the PyeongChang Winter Olympics next month.
The way some muscles attaches into the growth plates of your bones can cause problems if you are doing a lot of sport involving jumping and running, which is why a lot of girls and boys who dance or do athletics get issue with their knees. This happens especially around periods of growth when the growth plates are more active.
If you have pain below the knee cap, and you think it may be the growth plates, it may be a syndrome called Osgood Schlatters Disease. This is not really a ?disease? but is just named after the guy who discovered it.
The tendon that attaches the patella (knee cap) to the tibia (shin bone) is called the patella tendon. The tendon attaches to your tibia right on the growth plate. The muscles of the front of the thigh (quadriceps) attach into the top of the patella which acts as a pulley to allow you to straighten your leg without the muscle rubbing over the edges of the bone. If you bend and straighten the knee many times, the constant pulling on the growth plate can aggravate it and you can get quite a bit of pain.
Things you can do to reduce the amount of pain and pulling include?
? Gentle stretching of the Quadriceps
? Strengthening your buttock muscles to reduce the load on the Quads
? Taping techniques to redistribute the load going through the tendon
? Strengthening other muscles around the hips so not as much strain goes through your knees.
? Icing the tendon after exercise , on a gentle stretch, to reduce the inflammation.
If you are having more random pains, more at night, and the pain is above the knee joint, it may be purely action at the growth plate of your femur (long thigh bone). Make sure that when it has been a little sore you do not do too much jumping or strong stretching. Keep the muscles around the area relaxed with gentle stretching , and heat may help relieve the pain by bringing more blood to the area.
Use Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation to settle any sudden increases in pain.
