looking for a song

ok, i know that what i demand is totally impossible but please help me find a song. I hear few notes as a jingle on a local indie radio and of course they're too lazy smoking pot to answer me. I have no song name, nor the artist, i don't know if it's female or male singer or group etc. it's modern, i remember something quite new, hipster stuff, not really mainstream, not really indie. It last (chorus ? coda ?)with a à la Björk (but it's not her) philarmonic huge final, not really phila as it's mostly brass group and classical drums. By memory notes are : G (half note) D(half note) D(quarter) C(quarter) A#(quarter) A(quarter). It's absolutely not accurate of course...i remember listen to this song and was astonished it was from this artist, and as i remember it's the new release of someone, not cat power, not florence, but someone a little bit mainstream, but maybe it's not...thank you :3

Do you have an iPhone? Or a PC near the radio? Try to install Tunatic or Shazaam, and see if it can identify the song for you next time it comes on.

Haha! I have an iPhone (provided to me by work) but I would have much preferred a Blackberry. I wanted "Yarn & Glue" as my ringtone again, but you can't do that with an iPhone (unless you have iTunes, which I don't).

My previous ringtone was "Emily", and before that it was "Hong Kong Garden"!

What do I care about market share? I care about high product cost and poor functionality, proprietary software and equipment, and bad customer service. I haven't read, seen, or heard anywhere that Apple has changed any of those things since I first started encountering them years ago. Recent observations show that they haven't. So, how would a reasonable technology debate change my mind? It wouldn't.

How many mac airbooks, powerbooks, iPhones, iPods, iMacs or iPads do you own? I have been an Apple user for 23 years and never had any support issues, poor functionality, etc. Now I will admit that you do pay more for what has been a much higher quality product with more uptime and the standard for plug and play. The difference is you have a high quality groundbreaking operating system and you combine it with cutting edge hardware design with the simplest most intuitive UI - noone has been able to achieve both- many have tried. My argument would also be from experience in developing software for various platforms.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like DRM or proprietary locked down content, but that's why I don't buy anything from iTunes except apps. I have never used iTunes to play music - and you no longer need it with iCloud to sync your devices...

so while Apple has a shitload of apps, hardware, products- I guess they can't all be homeruns...
but man when they created the first Macintosh's with floppy discs and knew people would copy applications and share them that way they were one of the first supporters of information, data and file sharing. That mentality continued with the iPod and harkens back to Jobs hacking long distance telcos.

it's a little hard to me to follow the thread in english but i wasn't an anti apple by born time, when i was at the cinema school i spend 3 years working with mac and then i turn into what the fuuck is this shit ! you say intuitive, for me the os is really UNintuitive and i really dislike the ergonomy, then, i hate that now apple is sort of a standart because it's factory done machine, you can't change anything (mean lambda user like me not my geek friend who make home made mac), all is locked both the machine and the informatic parts. it really make me sick to see that for the same quality you pay 500€ plus for apple just for "nice hipster girly design", all my apple fan friens tell me "pc are poor quality, i'm running my pc 12hours per day, i use video, sound programs with any pb, my last latop died after 5years and just cos i was really really upset by my bf and i thrown the laptop through the room to the wall...my new ones is 2years and is just perfect as first day. in an other hand, my best friend is a total apple addict and she has sooooo much pb with her hardware, she abandonned her iphone to a samsumg, and her ipod cos after bought 4 of it in 6years she does'nt believe in ipod anymore but still be a hard apple fan, why??? then, my dad (who's is informatic for 15years) told me how crappy apple was with the mac lovers, sellers during the "bad years" all of those crazy guys who believe in mac, they just kick them out to built this consumer temple : the apple store, i hate the apple store, all of this (sorry guys) american marketing "hi, i'm eric, how can i help you (tu in french instead of vous!!!!). it looks like a religion sect. it's not god, it's a fucking computer, and you know what, i feel the same with all the ibm stuff ten years ago. i wish i have enough abilities to built myself my own computer, without any brand just as powerfull as i ned with no more extra stuff i don't care of, and pay for what it's needed to pay, quality of the components, not design.

Hi!
Milkisobel, I am glad I am not the only one who finds the Mac OS UNintuitive!
I bought a Mac Mini, but found it terribly awkward to use. Then the CD/DVD drive stopped working, so I took it to the Apple shop to get it fixed or the drive replaced (none of my techie friends would touch it, and although I'd be prepared to do it myself if it were a PC, this was not an option either), and they looked down their noses at me and asked if I had an appointment! Another day, another bus ride, and I was back there, and this time it was going to be about £300 to put in a new drive! On top of which, I understand you can't plug in an "off the shelf" external DVD drive, and you have to use a specially formatted external HD if you want to use one of them, too.
A couple of years later, I went back to the same shop with a former workmate of mine, who was interested in buying a new laptop. He decided to check out an Mac version, and the salesman really was good at his job, and he ended up buying one. He does like it ... but remains frustrated at the difficulties it has communicating with his girlfriend's PC and the PCs of his work colleagues, and at the pale imitation of Excel that Mac has in its suite. Without doubt, the photo handling is excellent, and the styling is attractive ... but I don't want a computer as a fashion statement, I want one that's easy to use, so my little brain can concentrate on the problem in hand, and not on the mechanics of getting it from thought to screen and beyond.
Mac computers also seemingly benefit from quick start-up and minimal "slow down" with the life of the machine. While this is without doubt an advantage, I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that it's easy for unsuspecting PC users to install software on their machines that kicks in at start-up, slowing it down. The Apple seems to have a similar relationship to new software as water does to oil ... unless of course it's been laundered by iTunes or their proprietary applications store. Probably this also helps to account for Mac's relative freedom from viruses and other malware. But I have also been told that a bigger reason for this is that malicious codewriters want to hit the largest number of machines possible - and it is only recently that Macs have occupied a significantly worthwhile share of the market to make targetting them worthwhile.
As for the iPhone ... all I want to be able to do is to select a song for my ringtone that is MY choice. It would not be difficult for the makers to grant me access to the folders within via a PC, but they choose not to. I can get it "jailbroken": it's quick and cheap, but it invalidates the warranty, and I can't really do this because it's not really my machine, but my employer's. I even bought a piece of software that claimed it could allow me to set a new ringtone without using the dreaded iTunes ... but it didn't work.
When I was very young, I bought my first home computer. It was a Tatung Einstein - it sat in the corner and it worked great, and no teamwork was needed from it. My brother got a computer, too - I forget what it was, but it too happily stood by itself and did what was asked for it. And then we got a Data General computer at work, and so I had access to three machines, and the only way to get information from one to the other was to copy it out and to re-type it. What IBM started to do with their PCs, and Apple appeared briefly to be following suit with its Mac, was to remove those barriers, and allow machines from different manufacturers to "talk" to one another - even if back in those days it was just through an exchange of floppy discs. To me, that is the essence of "personal computing" and the main reason why it has developed so far and so wide - everyone's efforts can in a way be pooled. But Apple quickly stepped back from that, hermetically sealing its machinery both physically and through software barriers, and it's that ethos that annoys me intensely about them.
Rant over. I need some JN to soothe my mind. What will it be? Clam? Bridges? In California .. the choices are many, but I won't be playing them on an iPod, that's for sure!
