Yeah things have been a little rough round here recently. Hope we can calm everything back down to it's usual niceness.

I shall stand beside Queenofnerds' comment, and that of Weirdelves.
I think part of the problem is that sometimes posts have crept into the wrong thread, or even into the wrong ... umm, what's the word for the 5 main things that contain the threads (like "This Is Not My Tune"): can we call them "Looms" in Joannese?
So - maybe we should just say "think carefully where your comment begins", and perhaps someone might like to start a thread called "Things I want to say that some may find offensive" in the "Fray" loom. Then if you have a mind to post anything that could be inflammatory - stick it in there, and others can ignore it at will.

Sounds like a good idea Steve. We're wondering whether it's worth drawing up a set of rules for the forum, having only just realised we don't have any.

If you don't mind me saying...if you read through there was only one user being hostile out of everyone, and they've been here since 2010, so I don't think it is a new user issue.

Seeing a bit of the earlier Gaga leads me to believe she is a brilliant manipulator who didn't experience much of what folks relate to in her lyrics.

On the subject of Gaga, I think she's a minorly talented woman who both manipulates and is manipulated, and who won't have the staying power of other pop stars.

Considering the banality of pop music over the last ten years it can be said she is injecting some subversity, however planned and scripted it may be, back into the genre.
I've heard her interviewed a few times and she does seem to have a genuine love of music whereas some of her contempories seem to merely have a love of fame.

I don't own any of her albums and could only name a handful of her songs but it seems, at least, that she's taking pop into a slightly more interesting direction.

Also thought that article made a good point. It sort of ties in with what I was saying in the birth order thread about efforts to find naturalistic support for ideological/cultural biases.
