the crying light defined probably 3 or 4 months of my life when it came out lol. i was already a big fan, but it really caught me off guard how much i loved it. i listened to it in the bathtub, specifically. good times.
swanlights is quite good too; like all his albums, there's a few songs i'm not into... but his good songs out way the others. ghost, salt silver oxygen, swanlights, everything is new... oh man. might have to put it on right now!
oh, and there was a show from 2009 - Antony & The Metropole Orchestra ... i can't recommend this enough to fans, fabulous show, its on youtube, andddd worth an hour of your time.

Posted: 08 Aug 2011, 16:10I love his distinct voice, but only have two albums of his, I Am a Bird Now and The Crying Light, because it is all quite similar. I could listen to I Am a Bird Now in one go only because of the variety of vocals provided by the other collaborators. (Incidentally, Devendra Banhart, who sings on 'Spiralling', is an acquaintance of Joanna Newsom and iirc has performed with her.)
My three favourite songs of his are actually three covers - 'Crazy in Love', 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', and 'Here Comes the Sun'. (That's a non-released track but bootlegs can be found on YouTube.) The Beyonce cover is so different that it just proves that "It's about not the song, it's about the singer," as my choirmaster used to say.
