It was never my intent to offend anyone by merely expressing an opinion. I hope I didn't come across as rude. English isn't my mother tongue so I'm aware I'm clumsy with words. I refrained from any insults but I don't understand the hyper sensitivity. This is a music forum, people discuss music, good and bad. I wasn't aware an artists thread has to be masturbatory.

I'm also scratching my head at the jump to disliking Florence means hating pop music. What? criticising an artist isn't a criticism of an entire genre. Please direct all implications of music snobbery and elitism elsewhere.

Guys, if you should know what kind of bad words sayd me Florence's father just because I took some pictures during the show you would stop to listen Florence FOREVER

ell ess two: english isn't my mother language too but i remark people (don't remind who) wrote "we are on a joanna forum so we supposed to hear high music" something like that, and i disagree. it's clearly non masturbating business almost when we discuss about another pop artist, it wasn't about hyper sensitivity, i like florence but i don't care about her, it was about respect when i red extreme sentence like "she's shit" and such, as i like her, i'm clearly offended, non in a way as my friends could be insulted but i really can't bear rudeness and unjustified criticism, i was very attacked for have wrote an unjustified post about bjork, i just tell people here to justify their point of view, good and worse, no matter which. that's all. and i still have my implications of music snobbery. yes i think most of you are so rude with her cos of a certain snobbery, when i was 20 i was like "madonna is shit", near 30, i enjoy madonna, florence etc...in a certain way judging flo is judging pop music as for me it's the perfect pop example, not as worse as britney, not as better as bjork.

I don't think it was fair to use Kiss With A Fist as an average example of her lyrics, but yes, in general her lyrics aren't great. Just give her some credit for her lyrics not being all like Kiss With A Fist.

I really like her first album, but all of the stuff she's been doing with Paul Epworth has ruined her as an artist (see my avatar). Every song on Ceremonials is overproduced and of a very low quality. Has anyone hear heard 'Shake It Out'? It's utter rubbish. The chorus is banal to the nth degree. The artwork on the album is irritatingly similar to that of Lungs. Pictures of Florence lying down. Pictures of Florence looking tired. Pictures of Florence standing up with false bedroom eyes plastered on her face. Pictures of Florence smiling and looking pretty and being playful, thrown in just so people don't find her to be self indulgent and actually quite sweet. There's also a paid 'essay' written on how amazing the album is that includes mentions of someone's ex-boyfriend leaving a message on the narrator's phone masturbating and repeating her name over and over again, which made the narrator imagine it to be a recording of him drowning! A bonus!

Milkisobel, you're personally offended by criticism of someone else you 'do not care about' enough to make many long posts about how offended you are? Someone said that Florence is shit. Move on.

i'm on a forum and i like to discuss especially with those guys, it's not only florence offence, but what people think snob or cool, it's the same thing in the Björk thread but i don't want to answer, i spend weeks on the french B forum explain how biophilia is shit and why it's only the bjork signature that turn this poor cd into a "extravagant, out of the path, ambitious project" i'm really piss off with people who categorize artist into "hipster cool underground stuff" and "radio crap" it's the same thing in cinema but it's another thread.

I think she/they make some really good songs, but poor albums.

I was very much looking forward to hearing their latest, after hearing What The Water Gave Me, but that song turned out to be one of very few standout tracks for me. The album as a whole is, to me, a one-note wailing bonanza.
I really wanted to like it, too.
