So lots of singer/songwriter fans out here, but I tend to be more of a band person bar Joanna.

So who are your favourite bands?

It’s difficult for me to pick out favourite bands now, because I am discovering a lot of new and interesting music of all kinds – I only discovered Joanna Newsom in 2008, so she is still new to me – but for many years I seemed to listen mostly to The Legendary Pink Dots … and of course Cocteau Twins still occupy a big place in my heart. In terms of bands I’m probably still largely stuck in the 1980s! Moving back to the 2000s, do Godspeed You Black Emperor! and A Silver Mt Zion count as bands?

Saw Spiritualized a year or so ago, and they were awesome, but I don't think I'd put 'em in my favourites. Anyhow, some of mine...
