Bert Jansch and a few others...

I saw Bert Jansch at the only Joanna Newsom gig I've been at... He played support but he just as easily could have been the star of the show. His solo stuff is beautiful and he did some wonderful duets with John Renbourn. Unfortunately he died in Oct 2011 (3 months only, after I'd seen him!) His most recent album, The Black Swan, from 2011, was produced by Noah Georgeson.
Also, I saw no mention of west African music in the topics so here's my favourite from Mali; Ali Farke Toure- he played guitar, they call him the origin of blues! He died in 2006 but world circuit records still upload his tracks on the youtube. Toumani Diabate- he plays the Kora (African harp) and is still gigging and touring, lately I think he's been playing with his son! Actually, world circuit records (YouTube) have a great selection of west African and Cuban music uploading regularly!

I ran out of space... X}
Sam Amidon is another I must mention. He plays banjo and guitar and does mainly covers of old murder ballads and a few pop songs. He's been working with Bill Frisell (I hope I got his name right!) of late! Sam's wife is also pretty good. Beth Orton is her name, she plays guitar and does folk-electronica stuff.
Now, all done.
I hope your ears are happy! :glee:
