Usually when I hear people use the term 'hipster' negatively it seems it's usually a response to something they think is disingenous and pretentious. I don't love CocoRosie but I feel a lot of genuine emotion from their music and their lyrics, mostly pain which often deals with questions of gender, sexuality, misogyny and the experiences of women. I appreciate them as a real-felt queer voice in an uncomfortably straight world. Also love that Antony's in some of their songs. :luv:

I have to admit that my annoyance about cocorosie is mostly a french affair. they were at their beginning the fav of parisian cultural press (they lived in Montmartre the utter bobo place in Paris) well above joanna newsom as an example and musically I always thought it's unfair. I think their music is very poor and too tricky to be honest. nevertheless I just admit that one of the sisters has a good voice, I never focus on their lyrics and I realized that this hipster thing is mainly my french pov. I don't know the perception about her in other countries.

That's fair enough, I must admit I have very limited insight into the french music scene!
I completely agree with you that they're far below Joanna with regards to pretty much everything (except queer visibility). I can also admit I think pretty much everything deserves less praise than Joanna (musically and lyrically), but I try to not hold it against a group that they should be receiving more attention as I find it's largely a result of surrounding culture what actually is given a spot in the limelight. Anyway, I think some of their lyrics are very good and hard-hitting! And although they're very crude-sounding I think some of the effects accomplish underlining the subject matter at times, increasing the severity of the emotional impact, which I appreciate. :)

I enjoy CocoRosie, too, but I tend to have only a limited number of their songs that I listen to very often:

The Moon Asked The Crow
Good Friday - including the Amsterdam café live version on Youtube
Lemonade - lots of versions!
Animals - including the live with KCO version on Youtube
Lyla
Japan - including the live with KCO version on Youtube
Terrible Angels
Jesus Loves Me
By Your Side
K-Hole
Houses

So I suppose I have to agree with Milkisobel, as none of these are from their 2013 album.
