Music on vinyl is one of my great passions, everything sounds so much better and the records themselves are such beautiful objects.
Does anybody else share my passion? I'm sure some of you do. So I guess this could be the right place to talk about our collections and our new purchases I'll start by posting my collection so far, which I am immensely proud of:
Agnes Obel - Philarmonics Alela Diane - Alela Diane & Wild Divine Anna Calvi - s/t The Band - Music from Big Pink The Beatles - 1967/1970 Bob Dylan - s/t; Desire; Infidels Don Caballero - What Burns Never Returns Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light vol. I Esben and the Witch - Violet Cries Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues Fugazi - Red Medicine Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A# ∞; Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada; Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven; Yanqui U.X.O. Joanna Newsom - Ys; Have One on Me; What We Have Known (no Milk-eyed Mender, and that sucks terribly bad) Jenny Hval - Viscera The Mars Volta - Octahedron Nirvana - In Utero (10' anniversary picture disc) Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother; Meddle Rites of Spring - All Through a Life EP Set Fire To Flames - Sings Reign Rebuilder Silver Mt. Zion - This is Our Punk Rock Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer Tv on the Radio - Dear Science Warpaint - Exquisite Corpse; The Fool White Stripes - Elephant
Plus tons of records from my father's collection among which my favorites are: Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy and the Poor Boys; Cosmo's Factory The Who - Who's Next Neil Young - Harvest Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - Deja Vu Bob Marley - Uprising Peter Tosh - Mystic Man Led Zeppelin - III
My husband shares your passion! He also designs and sells his own tube amps so he's got a whole old school set up in his office. I swear the man can see where the musicians were standing when they recorded the music.
On that note Ys = extremely good quality recording, Have One on Me = not so good
Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young - Deja Vu is one of his all time favs.
drat i will be coming bac to this thread, i have over 1000 albums...and while i don't have a tube amp i do have a Marantz 1270 4 channel that has been completely gone through and had all the old capacitors replaced with black fosgates...the loud button is still the warm old fuzzy ones though
Jessie what does yer hubby listen through? i go Cerwin Vega's High Energy Design, the 12 inch woofers, no watt limit variety(they hum gleefuly when pluged straight into a power outlet) backed up with a pair of Klipsch's...not exactly Voice of the Theators backed by a pair of LaScalas...but it works in a pinch
The thing i like best about deciphering Joanna's songs...i'm always wrong.
(rainbow love your avatar) i also listen my vinyl on the old pioneer from my father, i've few vinyl, some bjork, joanna and emiliana torrini but most of them are friends limited edition records haha never understand why unknown bands love so much released their confidential record on vinyl which is to be honest not very mainstream
I have no turntable. But I do have three Scandinavian folk music records framed on my wall. And also a Melanie record I got for a quarter at the flea market.
Of course, I have one aim, the grotesque. If I am not grotesque I am nothing.
