I will watch the whole movie tomorrow (today actually, it's 1:24 AM!) and tell you what I think.

Afterwards: Tried to continue but couldn't handle it.

Was it just boring or was it like humorously bad?

Yeah, and that actually isn't even an exaggeration,

I totally agree about A Perfect World though. I have been watching that film for years and it still makes me cry

I just got back from the cinema where I saw Shame. Has anyone seen it? Quite difficult to know what to make of really; both lead performances were spellbinding and the cinematography was so artistic it was unreal. Every long take was beautiful and laced with meaning. Really uncompromising as well, although I appreciated a lot in it I think I'll have to give it some thought before I know whether I liked it or not. Also, definitely one to see in the cinema rather than on a little laptop.

Just watched The Skin I Live In, which was fantastic and utterly disturbing. I also saw The Roommate as I was in need of something trashy, and it was trashy, although nowhere near as bad as the reviews (4% approval?). I found it to be better than Black Swan in terms of storyline.

Just watched Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?

That was... odd. I feel a little shellshocked. Good, but, wow.

I read the play to help an essay I was writing last year ('To what extent is self-delusion the main factor causing the suburban American tragedy' - so fascinating to write, did it on WAoVW, Revolutionary Road and Death of a Salesman) and loved it so much, and then the film is a very faithful and powerful adaption. Almost as good as seeing the play in action.

i saw tree of life three times in theatre and tons on my computer, think it's really one of ht best movie ever, not the malick's better one (which is definitely "new word" for me) but absolutely brilliant, it's so close to my own cinema sensibility, i cry each time i'm watching it.
don't want to act like a jackass but perhaps is this about age, i didn't like malick's stuff at 20, now he's my belobed director at 30, something in the life issue subject, don't know, but yes i admit that the pace of the movie is peculiar, but that's exactly what i loved in

The worst (IMO) films of 2011:

1. Black Swan.
2. The Tree Of Life.

Best films:

1. Melancholia.
2. Shame.
3. The Skin I Live In.
4. Midnight In Paris.
5. Sleeping Beauty.

Not as bad as made out to be:

1. The Iron Lady.
2. J. Edgar.
3. Sleeping Beauty.
4.
5.

Not as good as made out to be:

1. The Help.
2. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
3. The Descendants.
4. Black Swan.
5. The Tree Of Life.

WILL UPDATE.

I so agree about the Iron Lady, it hardly makes Thatcher out to be this really sympathetic character, which is like the main complaint, and in fact it doesn't even bother to try and give any political message, which is really smart. I know it's not the best film in the world but Streep is incredible in it.

The Skin I Live In is amazing! Almodóvar's best since All About My Mother?

worst movie of the year, can't imagine i waist time to look at it, pseudo arty, whithout any drama interest, casting is dumb, this michelle is just as annoying as her physic...i prefer real action movie instead of this psychological thriller...

I just watched Everything is Illuminted, I know it doesn't go as deep as it could have but it's so full of personality and life and I love Eugene Hutz.
