Videogames

So? Do we have many gamers here? I used to be really into games but recently I guess I haven't had the time to spend. But still I hold some classics close to my heart... Final Fantasy IX, Harvest Moon, the Ace Attorney games, and some recent awesome stuff like Bayonetta, Bioshock, Red Dead, Fallout.... hmm I guess I do play a fair amount. Awesome.

I'm probably the least hardcore gamer ever... I only really play Wii games. I like Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, Rock Band (the Beatles version is really fun!)...

Gaming is most of what I do. My absolute favourites are D&D-based RPGs like the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights series, so it's awesome that a new one (Daggerdale) is being made. So many RPGs are lowest common denominator-pandering crap these days, and BioWare's meritorious epoch has been fading into a populist dark age for some time. I did like Oblivion, and Fallout 3 although it was Oblivion with guns, and New Vegas although it was Fallout 3 in the desert. I wonder what Skyrim will be like?
I did play WoW, but I quit. The RP community was utterly ignored from the outset and the game dumbed down and down, and down and down, and down and deeper to try to win over the Gear Medals of Duty: War Call of Honor crowd (i.e. brainless jock philistines), slowly sacrificing everything about the lore that made it interesting to give it more market appeal. Once again, commerce castrates art.
Grand strategy games are also a favourite, like Paradox Interactive's titles (Europa Universalis, Victoria, etc.); and TBS like the Civilization and Total War series, though all of the above are vastly improved by their modding communities.
FPS or anything else very fast I can't play. I get panicky and overstimulated.

I always wanted to make a video game thread!

Although lately I haven't been playing many games. Last game I played was Rule of Rose... Gorgeous but very twisted game.

I'm kind of a Nintendo geek. Bayonetta, though... That game needs to be bronzed and mounted on a plaque... LOVED it.

I only started playing video games in the last 3 years or so. I am a total Animal Crossing addict. I Also really really really love all Katamaris. And Cooking Mama. I just got Kingdom Hearts (a little late, I know). I have been meaning to play more, but they are so expensive. My friend let me borrow Harvest Moon the other day, so i need to start. I also <3 Aamerican McGee's Alice. I have been meaning to play more. I am very specific about what i like to play. I also spend hours playing those silly dress-up games for 10 year olds. My guilty pleasure.

I really like to LARP.

Angry Birds (PC and PS3), Kingdoms of Camelot (Facebook). Played Need For Speed Underground 2 and Carbon a few years ago. Got bored with them. Played Mario 64 a decade or so ago until I started getting motion sickness...a hazard of getting old. Would play just about any of the first-person-shooters if I didn't get motion sickness. Now I have to stick with the not-so-jerky games.

I'm such a loser, I mostly like to play games that are super easy while I watch TV shows, so while sometimes I just do easy Sudoku or something, other times I play those really simple point-and-click adventure games. :) But I only do like, internet flash games. I grew up playing Gameboy (I was really into Pokemon ... which was rather common, I believe) and N64 games and just a wee bit of Playstation (Kingdom Hearts! <3 <3 ), but once I hit ... I dunno, 14, I stopped entirely.

On a side-note though, I'm super into gamification. :)

I love rainbow island and pokemon and and lots of other stupid girly games. My fave games of all time have to be zelda. I've played them to an obsessive level.

I love basically all Mario and Zelda games. I especially like the RPG Mario games (the Paper Marios and Super Mario RPG for Super Nintendo).

I've been known to play Animal Crossing when my brain is fried and I don't feel like thinking.

I highly recommend the Phoenix Wright series to all tadpoles. I reckon they're really in synch with a Newsom-mind

My roommate would be so disappointed. He plays WoW and is obsessed with the elves in that game, but he likes to tell me that I look like a Tauren :glare:

I love most Mario games, and I used to get caught up in the Heroes of Might and Magic games. The Heroes games take so long to play when you play multiplayer; one of my friends used to come over at 10 in the morning during the summer and we would play from then until midnight. It looks like there is a version of Heroes II for Linux... I might need to download it.

I love videogames!
I'm rather a retro nerd, but I also love my Nintendo DS. Since I tried Animal Crossing on my dear's GameCube I'm really in love with that game, it was my first game for my DS ;) And I also love the Phoenix Wright series, I listed Maya Fey under the 'inspirational people'-list on Facebook
My console-collection consists of a Sega Master System, a Sega Genesis, a Sega Dreamcast, a Sega Saturn, a Super Nintendo, a GameBoy Color, a NeoGeo Pocket Color, a Wonderswan Color, a SwanCrystal and a Nintendo DS.
I expanded my collection when I was in Japan last year, the prices are unbelievable...I paid 300 Yen for the Sega Dreamcast and for the Sega Saturn!

I really enjoy RPGs, but in most cases I'm not patient enough to beat the game  I like Beat'em Ups and Jump'n'Runs, too. My favourite games are the Phoenix Wright series, Disgaea, Pokemon ( a classic!! ), Yoshi's Island, Harvest Moon ( SNES version ) and Terranigma, I think. I also enjoyed the handheld versions of Kingdom Hearts.
