the darkness of my mountain forest in winter, the warmth in the traditional winstube or bierstube, the delicate beach in Normandy, our 5th Republic and his social plan, the "exception culturelle" that makes art independant to the major finance, food from every part of France, all sort of cheese, the Alpen in summer with everlasting snow, french language, Marguerite Duras, Albert Camus, Jean Cocteau, all the 2rd war resistants intellectuals, the group of the six: Darius Milhaud, Georges Auric, Arthur Honegger,
Germaine Tailleferre, Francis Poulenc, Louis Durey. Erik Satie, Versailles, Desplechins's, Beinex's, old Besson's movies, the fact that the brothers Lumière invented the cinematograph, the fact that those inventors called brothers "Light"! french Haute Couture: Chanel, Saint Laurent, Lacroix, Lanvin, my city's medieval architecture, my mother's country sense of honour: corsica, Manu Larcenet and the bunch of subversive comics drawers (melt with the belgian, hard to separate both), Elle magazine, Louboutin's heels, Napoleon, the fact that France is one of the beloved country in the world by foreigners

Italy:
I do love my country, and especially my language. I love my folks as well, the way we are, but unfortunately I don't love who does politic there, that tries to make people sad, superficial, careless.

It depends on what sort of a mood I'm in, and it depends on what you mean by my country. I suppose I do love Scotland, in spite of its failings, and I enjoy the national romance, even if it's a load of sentimental nonsense invented by 19th century toffs. I certainly love the UK as a whole - on other days, though, I'll say that I suppose I love the UK and I certainly love Scotland. I couldn't leave this country, not forever. I'd miss the BBC, the greenery, the familiar food, the high streets, the pubs and clubs, and perhaps the sense of humour most of all. And I imagine that once I've left Scotland, I'll start hankering after Kingsway West Retail Park with its monumental Tesco, purple-headed mountains, lochs, the sight of the snow-capped Sidlaws from the top of the Forfar Road, the dubious onion rings from the dubious takeaway so often stumbled into from the Westport Bar, the rhythmic bumping into eachother that passes for dancing in Fat Sam's, the view from the top of the Law and the fields at the back of my house. Most of all, I think I'll miss my bed.

I don't really love my country at the moment... I've never really felt any pride to be french (allthough there are many things I like here and I used to feel rather privileged to live in France)but now I feel so ashamed by Sarkozy's government...

I really think France and Italy should react. At the moment, we are Europe's image of shame!

I do love my country even though it's so ridiculous sometimes.

Anyway, I just saw this and thought I'd share:

It's a sample of photography about the northwest (mainly Washington), which is where I've spent the majority of my life, and which I love deeply.

U.S.

Alot of the camping spots Joanna named are my favorite. Love Big Sur. Love all the areas around her hometown. Good shopping, tons of little shops!

In LA, I love the the access we have to live music. Seems like everyone plays here. Love the California coast line. Love the peaceful and passionate attitude some of us have.
