I am working on some Joanna Newsom tunes for solo saxophone. I'll post theme here when I can.

I am a huge fan of Jazz, Kora music, Tuvan throat singing, and improvised music.

Although not a "huge fan" of Tuvan throat singing, I can say that I've had a mild fascination with it since watching Genghis Blues a few years ago.

I still need to see that film.

Smithsonian Folkways released a great recording a while ago on Tuvan throat singing and other musics of the region.



I think it serves as a great introduction for anyone interested.

It is also possible to find many examples of throat singing on youtube, including excerpts from Genghis Blues. I just watched several videos and found to be very interesting.

hi, i just joined this thing but i've been a huge joanna fan for years. my name is mary and i'm a college student in tennessee. haven't seen any other tennesseans on here so far, haha.
the first joanna newsom song i ever heard was cosmia. it was so beautiful to me then and it's still one of my favorites. my favorite song to sing along to is inflammatory writ. i can't sing right now because i have a sore throat, but singing it at the top of my lungs never fails to cheer me up.

Welcome to the forum, Mary! Inflammatory Writ is a great one to sing. My rendition is never much appreciated, though
