I agree with you Sadie about Drive. In fact the opening is my favourite part of the whole film, and it's one of the most beautifully shot films I've seen. I didn't buy Ryan Gosling as being threatening though...too blond and blue eyed for that.
In my opinion your breakdown of the year's films are pretty accurate too, although I did think The Descendants was rather good.

Did anyone see the Artist? I couldn't summon up the will to go and see it and wondering if it was as good as everyone says. It looks like it's going to clean up at the Oscars. Out of the nominees for best picture I hope Midnight in Paris gets it. And I hope My Week With Marilyn gets something as well.

I saw Tyrannosaur last night. For a film containing some of the most violent scenes I've ever seen on film, yet in spite of the overflow of anger, the picture as a whole displays quite a lot of restraint. The violence is never gratuitous, but some may find parts of the film quite hard to handle. It's Paddy Considine's directorial debut and it's good as anything he's been in. Unsurprisingly, it reminded me of the type of Shane Meadows film he often stars in, but I'm going to say that this film is of a higher quality. Peter Mullan does Ray Winstone rage better than Ray Winstone himself. What's more, Olivia Colman (of Peep Show fame) is incredible in it. If you needed a set of charts to understand Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, trust Tyrannsaur to restore your faith in British cinema. To coin a phrase: a working-class act.

Moneyball disappointed me a lot. If you don't know anything about baseball (like me) you will probably miss the point.

I saw Abducted today. Laughably bad. But my favourite Swedish actor Mikael Nykvist was in it, so I guess that's cool.
