i remember joanna mentioned in some interview that she had recorded most of of the singing on HOOM prior to discovering she had vocal nodules.
i tried figuring out which songs sound like pre / post nodules, but i can't really tell the difference.
what do you guys think?

I think No Provenance is totes pre nodules.

I thought it was that she just did all the piano and harp recording first and then recorded the vocals once her voice has recovered? Apart from the couple of tracks that she recorded vocals and harp at the same time (like Jackrabbits, I think).

hmm i remember her saying something along the lines of 'i'm really surprised by critics saying that the nodules softened my voice... most of the singing on the record was done before i realised i had them'
i don't know, basically a bunch of reviewers were all 'her voice is so nice now... it must have been the vocal nodules'... and she was having none of it.
but maybe you're right, because i really can't tell any difference between the songs. i guess if i had to choose, i'd say jackrabbits was definitely post-nodules and no provenance was probably pre-nodules :)

Hm, I feel like there's a clear difference in her voice between the three albums, but on HOOM, I don't notice any stark distinction between songs. Maybe I'm just not perceptive enough.
