This arose from the "key changes" thread and I thought it would be interesting to document the different, accidental and non-musical harp sounds encountered in various songs.
Bridges & Balloons 2:13-2:15 (wow that looks like a bible verse or something)
-It's almost not noticeable but there is a slight sound of either a finger weakly hitting the string or a fingernail slipping and hitting a string
Sprout & the Bean 2:42-2:44
-Right after she sings "When you go away" there is a pedal change from F-flat to F-natural, and you can hear the string change - it sounds like a little pick-up note to the chord change (I originally thought this was intentional until I learned how to play harp and realized it was just pedal noise - aka a pedal gliss, although accidental)
"En Gallop" 4:50 and 5:00
-This is after the song has ended and during the final decay. If you turn the speakers up you can hear some ambient room noise, perhaps the sound of JNew shifting in her chair.
Cassiopeia, beginning
-This isn't a mistake, but in the opening she is playing harmonics (when you play a string in a certain manner to make it sound a higher note than it should; it gives it that glassy sound), which is the only time in ANY of her songs that she uses ANY sort of harp sound effects
Peach Plum Pear, outro
-You can hear a couple of flubs in the right-hand harpsichord part
Swansea 2:13-2:15
-After playing the last thing before the music jumps into the high register (right before "And all we wanna do"), she accidentally hits one of the strings with her finger after playing it and it gets this brief twangy sound.
-Also, throughout the song, if you listen closely during the "And all these beastly bungalows" to the end of that section, you can hear muffling sounds during the brief silences of the rhythmic figure she plays.
Have One On Me
7:01-7:03
-If you've seen the Nardwuar interview where she mentions a single auto-tuned flute note, I believe this is the spot. If you turn it up, put on headphones and listen closely while she sings "I remember everything," you can hear a really out-of-tune flute note in the background. It's most noticeable immediately after she finishes saying "everything" and it's panned through the LEFT speaker/headphone.
8:28-8:30
-Right after she sings "...held me in your arms and I knew..." you can hear a string twang during a pedal change (another example of a pedal gliss, like in S&tB)
These are the only ones I have noticed. Add more if you catch them.
