Oh my goodness
Takes a while to get going and sounds like the first time he's ever played it. But I love Billy so all is good.
He makes it sound like Bob Dylan's 'Dark Eyes'.

admittedly he is standing on the shoulders of her great little tune and lovely lyrics but this cover is great, his respect for the song comes through for me.

Yeah, I can see he's someone that needs more than one listen to do justice to. We'll see, I'll go along at green man and keep my ears open.
Still, even the fleet foxes dude's cover made me a little bit sad. And I love fleet foxes.

It's funny; I just listened to him for the first time last week and enjoyed what I heard, and this just makes me want to explore further!

It used to be the case that Billy Bragg wrote great songs which sounded very raw in their original versions, and were then covered by girlie-voiced singers who did much more musical versions: ‘A new England’, covered by Kirsty MacColl; ‘St Swithin’s day’, covered by Dubstar. The reverse situation, of a girlie-voiced polished song like ‘On a good day’ being covered by Billy Bragg, is just too weird for me to comprehend, I’m afraid.
