As a Roots fan, lovin it

I was really hoping she would be singing on this track like reported and not just sampled.

but it's so good!

that harp is a perfect beat, and her echoe-y voice is creeeeeepy

it makes me feel like i'm out on a boat in the early morning and it's really foggy, and joanna's like a siren or something

I'm a bit underwhelmed by it. It's one of the weaker tracks on the album. Just doesn't really do much.

The report wasn't that she was singing on the track but that the sample was from a newly sung version (The Roots try never to use old samples). Has anyone done an A/B comparison to hear if it is resung, rather than sampled from the original?


I think Fashawn still wins in the hip hop harp stakes.

sounds sampled to me. i quite like it, i don't think its ground breaking but music doesn't always have to blow you away.

Coming in a bit late on this, but here's me 10 cents ...

I think it's awful - I just deleted it. I used to love hip hop - this is so dull it excruciating. And the JN sample is used in a very unimaginative way. Fail.

I like it, actually. I think it fits the track a treat and The Roots sound awesome as usual - they should be applauded for their sheer boldness and inventiveness. I never would've imagined Joanna and hip-hop to be bedfellows!
