PS In the Facebook group, a blitz tournament not unlike this one (but definitely not so thorough) was hosted last week. Guess what song was the winner! (yeah, you're right)
The Divers songs sure throw a twist into the competition! I found their freshness and novelty factor hard to balance against my longer lived/loved relation to the older tracks. I'll be curious to see where my preferences lie a year from now.
I felt compelled to tie A Pin-Light Bent with This Side of the Blue because I recently came across a live version of the latter track performed during her Ys tour that I really love. Hearing her Ys voice and band on that track opens it up in a new way.
I tried to balance novelty against quality and I think the songs I like on Divers are genuinely the best songs she (or any other human being producing art in any medium) has ever written.
Hey Steve, thanks for compiling this massive list! Though I didn't track down all of them, it gave me a chance to hear a few of her collaborations that I'd never known of/heard. Also, I'm almost all ties as far as her own work goes, it's too hard at this point to choose, I think I abided by the system, but let me know if there's anything amiss.

Thank you, Alex Ysoltsev, Headless_Caboose, Butterbean, and solfatara for your votes and comments.
I agree very much with yours, Headless_Caboose, about integrating the new material into the same spectrum as the old, but I'm not helped by having been unable to transfer my cd to any other listening device either, this limiting my opportunities to hear them. Interesting to read Jordan~'s point of view too, probably with the benefit of more listens, and I'd add that seeing her on Monday enhanced my opinions of several of the new songs (ESP Goose Eggs). By the way: yes your use of 4s was correct ... but the fault was mine in devising a flawed system.
Solfatara - yes you're right. If you put a 4, the allocation becomes 4-2-1 assuming no ties, so 7 pts maximum. I have to say I'm not totally happy with the system I put in place for this round, so may tweak it for the next, which will also be groups of 3.
Alex - I'm interested in the FB poll. Any chance you could post or pm me with the results please
As you can see, I'm behind schedule, but will cast my votes later tonight and then post the next round in time for Monday morning. It will definitely finish within the calendar year 2015!
Butterbean - glad you've taken the opportunity to look back on the more obscure stuff. I hope you don't mind me pm ing you on that topic.

The leading song in each group qualifies for the next round. In Group 16, there was a tie, so both songs qualify as though they were group winners.
I had intended to award wildcards to the three 'best performing runners-up', but this is now reducted to two because of the tie mentioned above.
However, there were two criteria I had in mind to determine "best performing runner-up", and I expected them to give the same result. However , this was not the case.
Criterion 1 Number of points awarded, divided by the number awarded to the group winner (a measure of how close the group was). The 29 runners-up can be ordered as follows, with the proportion expressed as a percentage: 100% Leaving The City / Autumn 95.7% Goose Eggs 89.1% Same Old Man 83.7% Bridges And Balloons 83.3% Esme 80.0% Occident 79.3% Yarn And Glue 79.2% Does Not Suffice 76.4% No Provenance 72.5% Ca’ The Yowes To The Knowes 66.7% Inflammatory Writ 61.7% Three Little Babes 60.0% The Fray 54.5% Instrumental 1999 36.4% Prepared Harp Improv. 34.4% The North Star Grassman And The Ravens 29.4% The Man Who Ran The Town [HS/JN] 28.8% Little Wing 25.8% Man’s Road 25.0% Another Day [RH/JN] 24.2% Kindness Be Conceived [TG] 23.5% Against The Sky [VB] 21.2% Tom Bombadil 21.2% Angel 20.6% If I Were [VB] 20.6% We Are The Doctor [P] 16.7% Our Anniversary [S] 12.1% Do You Know Who You Are? [GS] 10.3% Ring The Living Bell [JN/S/WW] 9.1% Good Heart, Money And Rain [MB]
Criterion 2 Number of points awarded, divided by the total number of points awarded in that group. The 29 runners-up can be ordered as follows, with the proportion expressed as a percentage: 43.4% Yarn And Glue 37.5% Goose Eggs 36.0% The Fray 35.5% Leaving The City / Autumn 35.3% Same Old Man 34.3% Three Little Babes 34.0% Instrumental 1999 33.9% Does Not Suffice 33.3% No Provenance 32.8% Esme 32.8% Occident 32.5% Bridges And Balloons 31.4% Ca’ The Yowes To The Knowes 29.0% Inflammatory Writ 26.1% Prepared Harp Improv. 23.9% The North Star Grassman And The Ravens 22.2% The Man Who Ran The Town [HS/JN] 20.7% Little Wing 19.5% Man’s Road 19.0% Another Day [RH/JN] 17.8% Against The Sky [VB] 17.4% Kindness Be Conceived [TG] 16.3% If I Were [VB] 15.6% Tom Bombadil 15.6% Angel 14.9% We Are The Doctor [P] 13.1% Our Anniversary [S] 10.3% Do You Know Who You Are? [GS] 9.0% Ring The Living Bell [JN/S/WW] 7.9% Good Heart, Money And Rain [MB]
Criterion 3 Absolute number of points awarded: 23 Yarn And Glue 22.5 Goose Eggs 22 Leaving The City / Autumn 21 Does Not Suffice 21 No Provenance 20.5 Same Old Man 20.5 Bridges And Balloons 20 Esme 20 Occident 18.5 Three Little Babes 18.5 Ca’ The Yowes To The Knowes 18 Inflammatory Writ 18 Instrumental 1999 18 The Fray 12 Prepared Harp Improv. 11 The North Star Grassman And The Ravens 10 The Man Who Ran The Town [HS/JN] 9.5 Little Wing 8 Man’s Road 8 Against The Sky [VB] 8 Another Day [RH/JN] 8 Kindness Be Conceived [TG] 7 Tom Bombadil 7 Angel 7 If I Were [VB] 7 We Are The Doctor [P] 5.5 Our Anniversary [S] 4 Do You Know Who You Are? [GS] 3.5 Ring The Living Bell [JN/S/WW] 3 Good Heart, Money And Rain [MB]
Fortunately, two different songs come out on top when the runner-up songs are ordered by these criteria, so Yarn And Glue and Goose Eggs progress as asterisked 'wildcards'.
With apologies once again for the delay, I will post the Round Three draw in the morning.
This looks like being one of the hardest sets of decisions in any JNST to date, as we come down to the final 33 songs in her growing catalogue.
The last of the collaborations went out in Round 2, but there's a pleasingly good spread of songs across all periods, with the make up reading:
5 from The Milk-Eyed Mender 5 from Ys 12 from Divers 9 from Divers 2 miscellaneous
Here is the draw, colour coded to reflect these sources as in the previous round:
GROUP 1 Swansea On A Good Day In California GROUP 2 Easy Monkey & Bear Waltz Of The 101st Lightborne GROUP 3 Time, As a Symptom Baby Birch Good Intentions Paving Co. GROUP 4 Yarn And Glue * A Pin-Light Bent Cosmia GROUP 5 Sadie Have One On Me Goose Eggs * GROUP 6 Anecdotes Ribbon Bows Only Skin GROUP 7 Kingfisher You Will Not Take My Heart Alive Colleen GROUP 8 Soft As Chalk Divers Sawdust & Diamonds GROUP 9 ’81 Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie Sapokanikan GROUP 10 Emily Peach, Plum, Pear Autumn GROUP 11 Go Long Leaving The City "En Gallop" (aka En Gallop!)
HOW TO VOTE In practice, the voting method is the same as for the last round, and if you're happy with that statement, you can skip the rest of this post and get on with enjoying the music and casting your votes. However, I want to state up front exactly how I will treat each set of votes, for my reference later, and to enable readers to understand exactly how I'm calculating it, if they wish.
I should add that the 11 group winners, together with the best-performing runner-up, will progress to the final stage, except that, having already received one wild-card in this tournament, the two songs marked * will not be eligible for another. I reserve the right to amend this, should one or more groups result in ties.
I hope you have fun considering your choices, casting your votes, and watching the results come in...
ok i miss the first part of the tournament (ok as always for the past 4 or 5 years...) I feel as a renegate as Divers is definitely not my fav, glad there is some old HOOM warriors there, i'm probably the last HOOM overfan here, hope my vote won't ruin the Divers lover's votes huhu i know hearts mean nothing for the counting, just express my infinite love
