Hi Wanbli !

Thanks a lot for the warning.
You have an alert email from ABconcerts, right ?

A solo concert ! :hyper: :hyper: :notworthy: :notworthy: <3 :hyper:
My first one with Joanna and can't wait to being there !
Got it. Just have to find an hotel or something.

Hope so much she will play old solo song... What We Have Known... En Gallop, The Fray, Sprout and The Bean...

Anyway, are you aware if she will do some others shows, elsewhere ?

Tempted to spend my maintenance loan on plan tickets... :shifty:

Man, I really hope she'll do more than just ATP in England. Seems a bit of a waste, travel-wise. (Does our harpist not care about global warming?)

By solo, yeah it'll just be harp/piano and voice. She's been playing shows like that for a little while it seems (since End Of The Road last year). I'd posit that perhaps much of her band is busy, or else it's just too much of a fuss, financially or otherwise, to ship them all out for random little shows halfway across the world. There are certain songs that just don't work nearly as well when stripped down (Ryan and Neal contribute so much the the climaxes of Baby Birch and Have One On Me, for example), but if she's going solo, you can probably more or less expect some of her solo signatures, like Sawdust & Diamonds or Bridges And Balloons - the most recent versions of which are probably the best yet.

Hi there,

Just came back from the show in Brussels, I thought you might be interested in a list of the songs she played - on the top of my head and in no particular order: Have one on me, '81, Soft As Chalk, Cosmia, Clab Crab Cockle Cowrie, Go Long, Sadie, Sawdust and Diamonds, Cosmia, Does Not Suffice, Monkey and Bear.

I have a feeling I'm forgetting something... or maybe not. Anyway, that's a pretty great setlist for a pretty great show, even though the standing set-up of the venue was a crappy idea in my opinion. Oh well.

Well that was a great show to be at. A broken string during Sawdust & Diamonds and Joanna completely ballsing up '81 to the point of stopping twice, at one point muttering: "Jesus!" Now I know she won't think that makes a good gig, but it's those unique human moments that make certain gigs extra special. As did the small venue, part-standing so the front row were leaning on the stage a few feet away from her. And the song selection which was sublime. Her voice was so expressive, and coupled with the brilliant venue sound I could hear every word clearer than i ever have on record.

Here's the setlist (I wouldn't normally grab one but handwritten is kind of a rarity these days). Love the modesty of writing "if encored" as if it wasn't a certainty. She did two encores. Clam Crab Cockle Cowrie was the final song, after '81.

Haha she's been ballsing up every song recently. Perhaps this means she's been very busy writing, rather than practicing? :luv: :luv: :luv:

"if encored"... As if she wouldn't be! (just read that you already wrote that - great minds!)

Soft as Chalk from Brussels
Interesting listening to it solo on piano - I hear the phantom echoes of drums and other instruments...

Hi guys.

Here we are.

I got 7 songs :

containing :
Soft as Chalk
Inflammatory Writ
Sadie
Cosmia
Does Not Suffice
Sawdust & Diamonds
Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie

Does Not Suffice really is a great song. Even if I quite dislike the end of the song on album version And live, this one is a bit better =)

(Like JN, My camera must have dring too much Duvel I suppose... Image I mist almost all of the very few first seconds of the songs, sorry)

Enjoy anyway.

Could you repost or refresh the link to those songs? The "link appears to be broken," according to the Interwebulators. Thanks a bunch.

Nice job- good to hear them.

One thing I have noticed on CCCC is that without accompaniment JN seems to hit quite a few notes higher and hold notes longer when doing the song solo.

FYI- next time it is much easier just to upload each MP3 to Tindeck.com or the whole thing to mediafire.com
depositfiles is horribly unreliable and slow in my experience
