From the schedule that I have seen, her show is split with Fleet Foxes. So there will probably be 25-30 minutes of Joanna So more will be "cut" than seen. Have to hold out hope for a DVD release. "HOoM" would take up a huge chunk of her time, but it was possibly the best sounding song of the night. Sure hope they include it.

Jessie, I assume that it is more about the time and less about # of songs - going to guess that adding in a tad of banter, these 3 songs are close to 30 minutes.

travis - yes, the B&B is just a preview, must wait for TV airing.
Hopefully after it airs, the whole SBD show finds it's way online.
With these types of TV tapings it is very difficult to tape in the audience.

I was kidding Jess. I've posted many times about that idea since I joined the original forum in 2005. Hasn't happened yet...and sadly, I just don't have the enthusiasm for it like I did before. It is hard to keep the passion going when there is so little new music or info coming from Joanna. Joanna is not a fan-friendly artist. She may benice to those who meet her at the shows, but she doesn't seem to have any interest in keeping her fans happy. It would be so simple, without a lot of effort on her part, and without infringing on her need for privacy. Bu,t I doubt that she has even given it much thought. Oh well. It's our loss, not hers.

I like artists who don't go to lengths to cultivate a fanbase. Being listened to isn't her job, making music is.

So, you consider yourself a non-fan. Me, too. I stopped being a fan quite a while ago. She seems to do more to discourage rather than encourage fans. So, I stopped being one. That doesn't mean that I don't like her as a musician, singer and songwriter. I can't think of anyone I like more. But, I never go out looking for information, pictures, music, or videos the way I did for the first few years. That shouldn't matter to Joanna's fans. There are other people doing a very good job of finding and posting whatever can be found. Would I like to see a DVD by her, or new albums? Sure. I would watch and listen with great pleasure. But I won't buy them, just like I didn't buy the last album. I'm not a fan. Let someone else support her.

I really don't understand why you're so bitter as a listener because she doesn't cater to the modern requisite of flooding the internet with useless information. As Jordan says, it's her job to make music, not ensure people listen to it. I'm surprised you're one of the top posters on her fan forum and didn't even buy her last album. I barely buy any music but I have Have One On Me on CD and Vinyl.

Wait, you don't have Have One on Me? Why?? It's so good! I found with some of my favorite artists that over time if they start putting crap out every year the quality drops. I am 100% satisfied with what Joanna's been doing. The music is all that really matters. Live shows - major plus and all that other stuff, just a bonus. Thank god she takes her time, it shows.

I bought her album because I want her to make more albums, and in the absence of some comprehensive annual artistic approval poll in which I could vote, the only way I can express that I want more albums is by buying the ones she releases. Conversely, I don't bother paying for the music of a lot of artists because I don't really care whether or not they release any new material (or they're dead). Aside from that, I think people should be rewarded for making art like that.

I respect the fact that she doesn't pander to a market. She cultivates her muse, not her audience: she's an artist who makes music for herself, takes her time about it, and makes sure she gets it exactly the way she wants it before anyone else gets to hear it. When people walk out of TV recordings of his stand-up routines, Stewart Lee describes it as "refining the audience", which is an attitude I like: not chasing after as large an audience as possible, trying to have a broad appeal, but rewarding patience and respect for the artist as a person and not just a glossy television-Internet-magazine character. You and I don't have to dangle tidbits of our personal lives for the amusement of a legion of strangers who happen to like us because of our work, nor are we made to feel obliged to churn our work out faster for the sake of that legion of strangers. We're left to get on with it, privacy broadly respected, as should Joanna be.

Jessie, there are other ways of listening to music than buying it.

Back in the day when I had a good enough connection to download music, I would always at least by a concert ticket or tshirt to make up for it.

What about all of those nice people who have posted her music on youtube, not just the videos, but album tracks as well? If I listen to those, would I be stealing from her? If I watch the bootlegged video from her concerts, would that be stealing the price of a ticket? We live in the age of copyright infringement. Show me someone who does not participate in it and I will show you someone who never goes online.
