I for one am grateful for the 3 bootlegs I own. They are the 3 gigs I attened, and instantly transport me back to those nights. The audio isn't perfect, but that doesn't matter to me. I can see how it would, however, matter to Joanna. I don't imagine she listens to bootlegs of her shows, but that's perfectly acceptable. I get the impression you feel she will have a problem with me enjoying a less than perfect recording of her, which I don't think is true at all.

Clean up on aisle five. Any post you want removed from this thread, mark it recognisably and I'll get rid of it for you.

Why are you talking about getting rid of posts from my thread?

While I'm here...

Prior to the show at the Orpheum, my ladyfriend had only heard little bits of songs by Joanna, and although she wasn't completely turned off by what she heard, she wasn't terribly impressed. Partway through the second or third song, she leaned over and told me that Joanna and her band were really good. Later she told me that they sounded great 'live', whereas the recorded songs she'd heard weren't nearly as good. Well, of course, just about anyone sounds better when you hear and see them in person than they do on a recording! But, I told her that what she'd heard before was at a much lower volume than the live show, and that there is a lot that you miss when listening at low volume, especially when you are listening for the first time. It remains to be seen if I can make her a true fan. :D

Personally, I don't care if you clean out his crap...since I don't see it anyway. If there are posts by others commenting specifically on things posted by him, then I have no problem with their removal. However, if someone has posted about things relevant to this thread, as well as things involving matters of His Darkness, then I'd prefer that those posts remain unchanged.

Can you get rid of all the nonsense threads?? Pretty please? :luv:

I'm not going to get rid of anyone's posts without their consent, don't worry. I'm just offering a clean up service.
Which nonsense threads? The ones in The Fray? That would be an abuse of moderator priveleges; I have no legitimate reason to remove them.

I doubt that there would be total agreement on which threads are nonsense. Even in the worst of environments there might still be found something worthwhile, at least to some of us.

Precisely. We could put it to referendum, but to be fair you'd need to set one up for every thread: not really a viable option, and how do you decide when it's reached quoracy? The alternative would be allowing everyone to elect a thread for deletion, but then you ignore the possibility that the people who voted for one thread cared just as strongly about getting rid of another; and again, you have the quoracy problem.

I suggest leaving the threads alone, and deleting only posts that violate "The Rules" (which I can't find). Anyway, it's your decision, Alex old boy. Better you than me.

That's the plan at the moment. As far as I can tell, we have no rules, which makes things rather difficult. We should perhaps open a thread for discussion of that at some point.

In reality.... I would just delete anything that's a "personal" attack. That seems like a fair rule.

That's not always totally clear cut, but I have made it clear to Scherado that personal attacks = banning.
Same goes for the rest of you.

Sorry - did you not want me to ban Scherado as soon as he came back? If I'm not going to be a nanny, Polli, you can't expect me to chase away the bullies.

I'm not really sure how to respond to that. I can't tell you how to do your job. BTW, just what does a moderator do, if not try to keep the kiddies from burning down the house?
