Well - having had another look at the other setlists from this tour so far, I guess I have to rephrase: it wasn't a short set compared to any of the other shows (except maybe Berlin :p) - but how could it ever have been long enough? :D Think next time I'll just travel on to Paris ...

True =) But it's still too short too me

Will probably release soon or later Waltz of the 101st Lightborne <3
(maybe Goose Eggs. - Utrecht recorded version is already very good too)
Also got a good audio of Anecdotes, sad I did not take the video of this marvelous song.

after listening to these live vids, I find Pete Newsom to be serviceable at best.
He is no Neil Morgan.

One day Joanna will have a group of top level musicians to take the live compositions to the next level.
I would like to see her continued evolution as a live act, instead of a recording act playing live performances.

Like touring a bit when you have no album to release or promote, just because you love playing music live...

Several rather good videos from this show are up on YouTube.

A truly marvellous evening - even the constant up and down of people was only mildly irritating. An awful lot of people can't seem to sit through a 1 h 50 min concert without going to the loo or getting a beer?!?
I loved every song, even though quite a few of my personal favourites were missing - but that didn't really matter as Joanna was putting her heart in ever single one. "Emily", "Anecdotes", "Divers" and "Baby Birch" blew me away. The crowd sounded enthusiastic too, great athmosphere. <3

I do prefer my recording of Waltz of the 101st Lightborne, despite the blurry image at the beginning of the video, the quality of audio is way better to me.

The setlist I saw from Philly said "if encored" and showed Pin Light, Bent and Baby Birch. Still a phenomenal show.

Short review of Philly and DC:
Joanna Newsom and the band delivered amazing and, in the case of Philly, nearly flawless. She flubbed a tiny bit in DC but played it off well.
The venues are total opposites: Union Transfer is a typical, standing only club, albeit large. Standing two feet from the stage I could hear everything really well. I hope the sound was just as good for the folks in the back or on the balcony. The crowd was exceptionally considerate and kept the gabbing as well as taking cellphone pics to a minimum. Lincoln Theatre is seated with no really bad spot it seemed. I got there in time to score a seat toward the back, dead center, in front of the soundboard. The sound was a bit distant at times and the band sometimes overshadowed her vocals.
Joanna Newsom is amazing. I think her touring band this time sounds great. Certain she scaled it back a bit but I think they sound all the more powerful. She also is even more personable with the audience and appears more secure. She came out to the merch table after Philly and chatted, signed stuff and took selfies. No selfies for me. But I did ask her a question that appeared to stump her. At DC I shouted the question and she recognized it but didn't answer because someone distracted her with "I love your hair!"
I got a $30 parking ticket at the DC show. I'm not terribly upset. Joanna rules.
