The shooter, 49-year-old Larry McQuilliams , went on a ten-minute shooting rampage in downtown Austin early Friday morning.
He fired more than 100 shots against multiple buildings including a federal courthouse and a police headquarter and tried to set fire to the Mexican Consulate before being shot dead by an on-duty police officer.
Officials on Monday said a map recovered from McQuilliams' vehicle showed he had 34 targets including several churches, banks and government buildings.
Police also found a hand written note in a bible in the gunman's car that said he was a priest of the Phineaus Priesthood, described by authorities as an ultra-conservative Christian group based in the Pacific Northwest that is responsible for armed robberies, abortion clinic bombings and planned attacks on FBI buildings.
During his autopsy the medical examiner reported finding the words "let me die" written in ink across McQuilliams' chest.
An FBI spokesman said the shooter harbored anti-government and anti-immigrants views.
The gunman was earlier convicted of a federal crime in 1993 and spent time in prison for bank robbery and was released in 2000, according to Austin police.
Investigators were still trying to determine whether he was mentally ill and how he managed to obtain several guns as a convicted felon.
